Public policy is crucial in addressing sickle cell disease (SCD), owing to its high prevalence, severe complications, need for early detection and management, and lacunas in existing healthcare systems. A comprehensive policy framework is essential for ensuring effective access to quality healthcare without prejudices and biases and promoting awareness to improve overall outcomes.
The course will provide an overview of the historical underpinnings of health care concerning SCD and how the healthcare facilities and resources remained staggered.
